China Launches Its Own Pinterest For Purchasing Luxury Items – Social Media

May 7, 2012

Interesting post by Yi Chen at PSFK

The Chinese say copying an idea is the highest form of flattery. Does that also apply to improving it?

Since Pinterest’s debut, a bunch of copycat sites have flooded the web in China. The most recent clone called Buykee takes the platform one step further, showing-off luxury items and also adding an e-commerce aspect which Pinterest currently lacks. Users can add items they like to their pin boards, and if they truly love it then they can directly purchase the item from the e-commerce stores.

With China having more online shoppers than the U.S. and the U.K, it’s not surprising that a lot of these clone websites also heavily integrate e-commerce features.
